On Friday, we learned that the American economy shrank by 3.8 percent in the last quarter of 2008, the biggest contraction since 1982. And while President Obama responded to those numbers with the creation of the White House Middle Class Task Force, whose focus will be to rebuild the flagging economy by “strenghtening the nation’s core,” we’re still scratching our heads.
